For the average shave geek, there is nothing wrong with having or at least trying out every other shaver that you can get in the market. This is as a matter of fact one of the most common things that so many guys normally end up doing, in a bid to try and get to learn a thing or two about some of the finest shavers in the market so far, and at the same time to try and figure out which of these shavers would work best for them.

Schick Hydro 5 Razor

If you were to come across any avid shaver, the details of every shaver that they have ever come to use would probably enthrall you, perhaps with all the finer details about which one is a no-no for them and which ones they would definitely recommend to anyone for that matter. Well, to spare you all the time and tiny details, let’s focus on some of the finest in the market yet, and give the Schick Hydro 5 a go.

The structure/design

Well, in the event that you were perhaps hoping that the Schick Hydro 5 would be the perfect replacement for Gillette Fusion ProGlide, you may have to tone down your expectations a bit, though it comes close, really close, and considering the value that you get from it, it is definitely a good bet.

This blade follows in the footsteps of the successful predecessors, complete with a cutting surface of 5 blades, and a trimmer function for that perfect trim. Schick Hydro 5 has a lubricating strip that conveniently moves out of the way, in the process making it easier for the shaving surface to be close enough to the tighter spaces. Apart from that there is the rubber fin just before the blade whose role is to lift up the hairs while at the same time scouring off the shaving cream that you are using.

You will also notice that every other blade on the shaver has a lubricating strip just after it, the purpose for which beats many, considering the fact that in most cases, the lubrication normally comes before the blades. At the same time, in the event that you already have a very good and effective shaving cream, there would be no need for these.

One of the other things that stands out about the Schick Hydro 5 is the fact that the blades are further apart as compared to the predecessors, and every one of them has a special bar whose purpose lies in keeping the skin smooth between the blades.

Well, one of the first things that you will also notice about Schick Hydro 5 is how refined the handle is, with a good balance too. Besides that, there is a 3 blade sans trimmer that also comes with the Schick Hydro 5, which most users find rather impressive.

Handling/Performance

Schick Hydro 5 easily sides over the face on the first slide, though it does not necessarily shave off as much hair as would have been expected with the other models. However, on the second slide, it is really impressive. It gets a very close shave, close enough to the skin without any irritation, which is quite the complement. It is a very good option for someone with an average beard.

There is hardly a drag when using it, so it is fairly comfortable on the beard and the skin when in use. In the long run, though this might be different from one person to the other, you get the chance of a close enough shave, and very little razor burns, if any.

Ease of use

Schick Hydro 5 is rather easy to handle around the facial curves, while at the same time it is also very easy to hold properly. The weight and balance are amazing, though every razor head is really large, the result of which depending on the structure of your face, it could be harder to get to some tight areas such as under your nose or the corner of your mouth. However, in order to address this problem, the shaver is designed with a trimmer.

The top of the Schick Hydro 5’s head snaps way from the shaving surface, in such a manner as to allow the top of the blade access under the nose. It is also very easy to eject the razor on the cartridge.

Perhaps one of the main advantages that Schick Hydro 5 has over a host of the other shavers in the market is the price. While most of the others could be much better in as far as handling and performance is concerned the Schick Hydro 5 is rather cheaper than the likes of Gillette Fusion ProGlide. Apart from that it is also cheaper to get the cartridges for Schick Hydro 5 especially online.
